The Community Improvement Project Fund
In 2005, the Cranberry Lake Boat Club established a Community Improvement Project Fund. This fund is used to provide monetary support for community projects that need financial backing. Prospective projects are brought to the Boat Club Board for its review and approval. It is the responsibility of the Board to determine if the project is appropriate and consistent with the purpose of the Boat Club. If the project is deemed appropriate, the Board will then determine the amount of support that will be provided.
To make a donation send with your (much appreciated) check to CLBC PO Box 656, Cranberry Lake, NY 12927 and put NNYCF-CIP in the memo.
The Projects
Since the late 1990’s the Cranberry Lake Boat Club has raised and provided over $90,000 “to enhance the general welfare of the area”. These funds are a combination of personal donations, the Clifton Community Library, Friends of the Library, Grants from the Adirondack Foundation Damoth Fund and the Northern New York Clifton – Fine Community Fund. Over $39,000 was raised for the Clifton Community Pavilion.

2014
The four benches were installed and we were awarded a Damoth Grant for $2,250 for a Wayfinding Sign for the Beach Park. We also started fund raising for a pavilion behind the Clifton Community Center.

The Wayfinding Sign was finalized with the DOS and the Town Board and $450 was provided to help rebuild the Wanakena dock. Over $35,000 was raised for the pavilion and at a cost of $22,000 the basic structure was built behind the Clifton Community. Finishing touches will be added in 2016.
2016
Electrical outlets, sidewalls, 4 picnic tables, and a ceiling were added to the pavilion. Over $39,000 has been raised and $32,000 spent on the pavilion. Serious planning began in partnership with the Clifton Town Board to enhance the front of the Clifton Community Center. A total of $500 was donated to help fund the Wanakena Walking Bridge reconstruction.
2017
A sidewalk was added between the playground and the pavilion; about $4,000 remains in the Pavilion Fund. In partnership with the Clifton Town Board a 31′ Memorial walkway, adjoining a 18’ diameter Hexagon pad with a 30’ lighted Flag Pole, backed with the Memorial Rock were installed in front of the Clifton Community Center. Landscaping is planned for 2018.
